Liz Bentley
Liz Bentley has been a professional horse trainer for 31 years and has held her National R Judges card for the past 20 years.Liz is the recipient of the Amateur Professional Horseman's Association Western Pleasure Female trainer of the year in 2005, 2007, 2008 and has been nominated for the award again for 2009. She has also been nominated for the 2009 Hunter Pleasure Trainer Female of the Year.In 2007 Liz set a winning record by being pinned the Scottsdale Open Purebred Western Pleasure Champion showing the Black Bay Stallion, Second Tsultans. This was only the second time in the history of the show that a woman had won this prestigious award. Liz and Second Tsultan went on to win this award for the second time in 2008, definitely setting a new record.Liz's showing experience includes but not limited to cutting, park, driving, side saddle, hack, Western and English pleasure, three and five gaited classes, hunter and halter. She has also spent many hours of personal time fox hunting.In the past thirteen years Liz has produced National Championships in all divisions of Western and Hunter Pleasure as well as her Amateur and Youth Riders.Liz and David Bentley have bred multiple Hunters and Western Stars. In 2004 their IIB Justalilwicked won the Purebred US National Championship Futurity Hunter Class in Louisville, KY. Davids daughter Brook set a Youth Nationals record by winning all four Western Pleasure champions in her first year in the 14-17 age groups. This National record still stands.In 2009, her Amateur Diane Athey monopolized the Amateur Western Division by winning both National Western Championships in Canada and then a unanimous win at the U.S. Nationals, onboard PShenodoah.
