LIZ BENTLEY, trainer and co-owner

IIB Farms, specializing in Arabian and Half-Arabian horses.

Liz Bentley is a professional horse trainer with more than 30 years experience and has been an Arabian/Half-Arabian National R Judge for more than 20 years.

She received the Arabian Professional and Amateur Horseman's Association Horse Woman of the Year in 2012 and was the Western Pleasure Female trainer of the year in 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. She was also nominated for 2013 Professional Hunter/Show Hack.

In 2007, Liz set a winning record by being pinned the Scottsdale Open Arabian Western Pleasure Champion, showing the black bay Arabian stallion Second Tsultan. This was only the second time in the history of the show that a woman had won this prestigious award. Liz and Second Tsultan went on to win this award a second time in 2008, definitely setting a new record.

Liz set a National record when she showed another bay stallion, Khaberet PGA, to the historic 2012 National Championship in the always competitive Arabian Western Pleasure. Liz was the first female to ride an Arabian to this honor. In 2013, she was named the Western Trainer of the Year by the Arabian Horse Times, and Khaberet PGA was the AHT Western Horse of the Year.

Liz's showing experience includes but is not limited to cutting, park, driving, side saddle, show hack, Western and English pleasure, three- and five-gaited classes, hunter and halter. She has also spent many hours of personal time fox hunting.

In the past 15 years, Liz has produced National Champions in all divisions of Western and Hunter Pleasure, and her Amateur and Youth riders have also achieved these honors.

In 2009, her Amateur rider Diane Athey monopolized the Amateur Western division by winning both National Western Championships in Canada and then a unanimous win at the U.S. Nationals with Pshenandoah.

Liz and David Bentley have bred many Hunter and Western Stars. In 2004, their IIB Justalilwicked won the Purebred U.S. National Championship Futurity Hunter Class in Louisville, Kentucky. David's daughter Brook set a Youth Nationals record by winning all four Western Pleasure championships in her first year in the 14-17 age groups. This National record still stands.
